If you are looking for a DVD box set for an American action series, 24 is a good choice for you. It is a television thriller that centers around the Counter Terrorist Unit, a fictional government agency that works to prevent terrorist attacks against the United States. Fox began broadcasting the series in 2001. The seventh season was postponed until January, 2009 due to the Writers Guild strike in 2007 – 2008. The series will continue through at least an eighth season.
During each episode of the DVD box set, the main character, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), races against the clock to save America from suspected terrorists. Typically set in either Los Angeles, CA or Washington, DC, the episodes are in real time, with a digital clock on the screen displaying the passing minutes immediately before and after commercials. The countdown continues during commercial breaks, which are strategically placed during periods of little activity.
Each season encompasses only twenty-four hours. Multiple characters are followed minute by minute in a split-screen display, allowing viewers to watch the activities of several Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agents at once. Mary Lynn Rajskub plays tech analyst Chloe O’Brian, and James Paige Morrison is Bill Buchanan, the director of the CTU. FBI agent, Renee Walker is played by Annie Wersching.
