It has been a great year for the gaming consoles. Sales have been up, and rightfully so. In 2011 the gaming community saw some of the most epic game releases to date. For people who missed out, remember your consoles usually have the games for sale in a downloadable format. With that being said, lets revisit some of the best titles for 2011. Below is a list of my top 3 games of 2011.
In third place we have Gears of War 3. It is about humanity’s impending extinction by the Locust and some new bad guys, the Lambent. In this world the woman aren’t allowed to become gears, That is until the recent release of the franchises third installment. Now you can play a woman character and the locusts don’t stand a chance! If you have yet to play this game, do yourself a favor and pick a copy up.
Holding down second place is L.A. Noire. This game takes place in 1947 right after the second world war. Crime families are running wild and the police corruption is a serious problem. Much like developer Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto franchise this game is also an open world sandbox. One difference however is in Noire you’re not the bad guy, your actually a detective. So if busting up the bad guys and a solid story line are what your into you wont want to miss out on this title.
And at my number one spot is Portal 2. Glados is back and she wants revenge. The developers added tons of new unique puzzle elements to this release. Another great addition to the game is the character Wheatley, a hilarious orb personality that fell from Glados. Early in the game You and Wheatly accidentally waken Glados. From there it’s back to the test chambers to help repair the damage the facility endured during yours and Glados’s naps. The time it takes to complete the game is roughly 12 hours, with plenty of variations to the way you can play. From ultra rich textures and graphics, to hilarious supporting characters this game is easily the number one game of 2011.
